According to the data of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Climate, the regions where hazelnuts are produced in Turkey are divided into three zones. The provinces in the first region, which is the most core region in hazelnut production, are Artvin, Giresun, Trabzon, Rize, and Ordu. Ordu is the province where the most hazelnuts are produced in Turkey. The second area is Samsun and Kastamonu. The third region is Zonguldak, Düzce, Sakarya and Kocaeli. According to the Black Sea Hazelnut and Products Exporters Association, Turkey earned around 2 billion 260 million dollars from hazelnut exports in 2021. A total of 344,370 tons of hazelnuts were exported, reaching the highest figure in Turkey’s history. If this continues, hazelnut production is expected to exceed 350 thousand tons in the 2021-2022 season.
