The exports especially increase during certain times in the year. Special days such as Valentine’s Day, Women’s Day and Mother’s Day are especially the times when exports increase significantly.

Mediterranean Exporter Associations (AKİB) Coordinator Chairman Fuat Tosyalı announced the export figures. Associations’ exports increased by 26 percent in May compared to the same period of the previous year. Thus, exports reached 1.72 billion dollars.

Coordinator Chairman Fuat Tosyalı stated that Mediterranean exporters have a large share in exports. 10.1 percent of the country-wide exports of 19 billion dollars in May came from AKİB.

Tosyalı emphasized that AKİB contributed significantly to Turkey's foreign sales. "In May, there was an increase of 26 percent compared to the same period of the previous year. We made exports worth 1.72 billion dollars. Hence, we achieved the highest increase in export volume among 14 general secretariats across Turkey. We maintained this position in May as well. The country we exported the most to was the Republic of South Africa. Exports to the Republic of South Africa increased by 616 percent. Exports to this country amounted to 198.9 million dollars. Iraq followed the Republic of South Africa with an increase of 76 percent and 114.5 million dollars. After Iraq, Spain comes with a 39 percent increase and 104.4 million dollars. "

The Impact of the Pandemic Continues

Aftershocks of production and supply cuts during the pandemic continue. Logistics, commodities, and energy are among the affected markets. In this process, AKIB continued its successful export activities. It integrated the advantage of the geographical location with its reliable supplier identity.

Slowdown in the European Union

Tosyalı noted that the conflict between Russia and Ukraine slowed down global economic growth. This situation suppressed inflation upwards. European Union is the biggest export market. However, the economic slowdown in the EU caused negative reflections on exports. Abnormal increases in raw material, freight, oil, and energy costs negatively affected production. In this conjuncture, AKİB achieved great success in exports with its close supply tendency. Tosyalı emphasized that it was of great importance to make their successes sustainable.

"The growth in export volume in such a challenging environment is an indicator of the development in our production capacity. We made significant contributions to the development of the region and the country. We succeeded by using the available resources most effectively. I congratulate all our members, especially our exporters in Mersin, Adana, Hatay, Kayseri, and Karaman. I am grateful.” Tosyalı said.

Increased Activity in Africa and Southeast Asia

Coordinator Chairman Tosyalı emphasized AKİB's efforts to increase market diversity. He noted that they made great strides in the African and Southeast Asian markets. In May, the Republic of South Africa ranked first in the list of countries to which AKİB exports the most.

AKİB achieved the strongest increase in export volume in the Singapore market with an increase of 12,885 percent in May. Exports to Singapore amounted to 51 million dollars. Moreover, significant rises in exports to South Africa, Romania, Egypt, Poland, and the TRNC further increase the motivation.

Exports of Chemicals, Iron-Steel, Grains, and Legumes are at the Top

The leading sectors in May were chemicals products and derivatives, and ferrous and non-ferrous metals. In the same period, the strongest increase in export volume was in fresh fruits and vegetables.

Mediterranean Chemical Products and Derivatives Exporters' Association made the highest amount of exports in May. The association’s exports increased by 25 percent and reached 701 million dollars. Turkey continues to make a difference in the field of exports. According to the data announced by the Turkish Exporters Assembly, Turkey increased its exports by 24% in April. With this increase, the figure obtained from foreign sales became 23 billion 363 million dollars. Minister Muş stated that this figure is the highest monthly export figure of all time.

Turkey continues to have increasing success in the agricultural sector in terms of exports. In April, agricultural exports were 2 billion 765 million dollars. It is up 17.6 percent over the previous year's same month.

Based on the data, it can be concluded that Turkey has improved its agricultural export performance. The influence of innovations and the expansion of Turkey's network in the export market are two of the reasons behind this.

In light of the geopolitical risks, the sector's executives are forming new trade networks daily. Turkey's export diversification is expanding as a result of this.

Agricultural export confirmed its success. According to industry estimates, it held over 2.5 billion dollars in the first four months of the year. Exports in the agricultural sector were recorded as 2 billion 558 million dollars in January. It was 2 billion 773 million dollars in February this year. In addition, 3 billion 30 million dollars of exports were made in March. Support to the Agricultural Sector, Success to Export

The share of agricultural exports in Turkey's total exports in April was 11.8 percent. It is also hoped that with this share, new strategies in the agricultural sector will maintain the stability of success. New regulations that delight manufacturers and suppliers are on the agenda. Recently, the government has stated that it could support the payment of items such as diesel and fertilizer in production. In addition to some support, there is also the provision of fertilizer to the farmer. There is also the possibility for farmers to make due payments following the harvest season. Solving the problems of farmers means increasing production and contributing to exports.

In this way, the production will increase, so the agricultural sector exports will continue to be stable in their success.

Turkey increased its production by more than 25% in the first five months of 2022 compared to the previous year. It stands out as a logical action to increase sectoral competition and attract foreign investors to Turkey.

Sector Representatives Continuing Their Work Non-stop

According to the Ship, Yacht, and Services Exporters' Association, records were broken in ship and yacht exports in the January-May period. The main market of the sector, which achieved great success by increasing its export rate by more than 25%, is Europe and the Middle East countries. They aim to bring the brands to the international level with the "The Art on Water" projects and the international fairs they organize. Turkey participated in the Nor-Shipping Fair held in Norway in April and introduced its new projects. Foreign participants, who saw the first outputs of the projects, gave positive feedback on this issue. In addition, sector representatives are expected to attend the Posidonia 2022 fairs to be held in Athens on 6-10 June and SMM 2022 fairs to be held in Hamburg on 6-9 September.

In April 2022, exports of fresh fruits and vegetables increased significantly compared to the same period of the previous year, once again demonstrating this reality.  Despite all the negative regional and sectoral incidents, Turkey managed to keep exports above a certain level by entering new markets. So, what are the export data of Turkey's fresh vegetables and fruits for April 2022?

Which Vegetables and Fruits Grow in April?

Many types of fruits and vegetables grow in Turkey in April. In vegetables and fruits, the ones that are predominantly green in color come to the fore. For an early harvest, the regions where greenhouse activities are intense attract attention.

Also, in April, the highest export was made to Russia with 46.3 million dollars. In second place is another Black Sea country. On the other hand, Turkey's fresh fruit and vegetable exports in the January-April period reached 972.7 million dollars.

Turkey Expanded in the European and Middle Eastern Market

Due to the war between Russia and Ukraine, Turkey has also entered into new market searches. In this period, Turkey sought alternative markets to compensate for the decline in exports in the Commonwealth of Independent States. In this regard, significant increases were achieved in European and Middle Eastern countries. Record-breaking exports to Israel and other European countries are proof of this.
